"Voices of Strength: Heroes, Hope, and Heritage"

2025 Concurso de Escritura

We invite Georgian all ages to participate and share their unique voices in celebration of Hispanic heritage, perseverance, and the power of literacy. From honoring everyday heroes to envisioning a better future, this is your chance to be heard.

Contest Categories & Writing Prompts

Submission Opening: August 18, 2025

Event Date: November 8, 2025
Submission Deadline: October 11, 2025

Elementary School (Grades 3–5)

Category: HERO

Word Count: 250–500 words: Write about someone you admire.
This can be a family member, teacher, historical figure, or community hero who inspires you.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

Category: HOPE

Word Count: 500–750 words: Tell a story about someone who sparked change. Think about someone—past or present—who challenged injustice, started a movement, or made your world better.

High School (Grades 9–12)

Category: VISION OF THE FUTURE

Word Count: 750–1000 words: What would you change about the world, and how would that change affect you personally?
Reflect on a global, local, or personal issue and share your vision for a better future.

Adult (ages 18+)

Category: HERITAGE & STRENGTH
Word Count: 750–1000 words: Share your immigrant story. Describe the challenges you’ve faced, the strength you’ve shown, and how literacy or learning helped you move forward.

Submission Guidelines

  • Languages Accepted: English, Spanish, or bilingual (combined)
  • Accepted Formats: Short story, personal narrative, or essay, word and PDF.

Story submission must be complete via this google survey:  Friday September 19th 11:59pm

  • All winners will be featured at the 2025 Concurso de Escritura: " Voices of Strength: Heroes, Hope, and Heritage on November 8 at Plazas Las America’s in Lilburn, GA.
  • One winner will be selected from each category. High School will feature 1st 2nd & 3rd place winners
  • Illustrations will be created for each submission by a volunteer artist and will be displayed with each winning stories at the festival.
  • For Elementary, Middle, and Highschool submissions, students must be registered in any Georgia public, private, or homeschool organization.
